OK, the kids are 5 and 6 years old: we made it through the toddler stages and my wife is no longer in danger of losing her mind. Time for more Navigator building! Here I’m done putting together the centerboard trunk (basically a box with and open bottom to allow the centerboard to hinge down into the water). And I’m cutting out each of the frames (or bulkheads) that define the shape. You can see that each frame is set upon the building jig in it’s location, and the boat is starting to take shape!
I also cut out the transom (essentially just the aft-most bulkhead. It’s got a hole cut out for the tiller to go through and control the rudder. Later on I’ll try to add a veneer to the transom: perhaps burled maple?
